The ZIP+4 code consists of a hyphen with four additional numbers that are added to the original ZIP Code to help enhance the sorting of the mail. By adding the ZIP+4 to a ZIP Code the user thus enhances the mailing to now include a delivery route which in the USPS employee will use for quick delivery.
